Blank and fixed value columns
In the template editor, Add fixed value column adds a column that outputs the same text on every row and Add blank column adds an empty spacer column; both are ordinary reorderable columns and are available on every plan.
Some importers expect a fixed layout: a column that must exist even if you have nothing to put in it, or a column that carries the same code on every row, such as a warehouse ID, a currency, or a record type. Both are built into the template editor and available on every plan.
Fixed value column
Section titled “Fixed value column”A fixed value column outputs the same text on every row.
-
Open the template. Go to Settings, choose the template and click Edit.
-
Add the column. Below the Selected Columns list, click Add fixed value column.
-
Name it and set the value. Type the header your importer expects and the text every row should carry, for example
WH-EASTorUSD. -
Position it. Drag the row to where the column belongs, then save.
Blank column
Section titled “Blank column”A blank column is an empty spacer with a header and no value. Click Add blank column, give it the header the importer expects (or leave the header empty if the file must have an unnamed column), drag it into position and save.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Both kinds are ordinary columns: reorder, rename or remove them like any other.
- A fixed value is text. If the importer needs a number formatted a certain way, enter it exactly as it should appear.
- The value is the same for every row. For a value that depends on the order, ask support about calculated fields on a support-managed template.
